Healthy Summer BBQ Recipes: Cedar Plank Salmon

Today, we want to share with you a salmon dish cooked on a cedar plank.

If you haven’t tried cooking on a cedar plank yet, you’re missing a treat. This cedar plank salmon recipe is easy and delicious.

Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/3 cup fresh basil
4-5 garlic cloves, minced or crushed
1 (2 pound) Salmon fillet

Instructions:

Soak the cedar plank in water for about an hour on each side and oil the grill while cedar plank soaks.

Mix olive oil, basil and garlic in a small bowl and spread on the salmon. If the salmon has skin on 1 side, omit olive oil on that side.

Add a little pepper on both sides.

When coals are red hot, but not flaming, place salmon on the plank and place the plank on the grill.

Close the lid and cook for about 10 minutes. Check in 5 minutes or so and cook until salmon flakes, but still moist inside. Turn the salmon once to make sure both sides cook properly.

Check the cedar plank periodically to make sure it’s not burning. Reposition it if it appears to be burning.

Serves 4 – 8 oz. portions or 8 – 4oz. portions.
